I got it through the program that solidworks is currently running which is giving out free copies to the first 2000 people who sign up for their summer program. More info here.

If you are on a FIRST team, firstbase gives out free copies of Inventor to each team. Its similar to Solidworks and will work just as well.

does that include fll teams? i used to be on one before buying my own vex kit, and the school didn't have inventor...

is this already closed, i signed up but i think it might be too late
