Re: New Products Available for Pre-Order on VEX Robotics Championship Store

Noting these two things from the specs page, they auto-shut off when the battery is done. Most chargers for these batteries you get at Radio Shack and whatnot will check for a negative change in...

Re: Your highest skill challenge score?

The key is to mix the Waits and sensor inputs. A lot of simple functions like moving a generic distance or opening a claw can be used with wait. It's when precise movement and limits come in that...

Re: New Products Available for Pre-Order on VEX Robotics Championship Store

The old batteries still have their value. Consider, smaller and lighter isn't always the best: some light robots can control COG by putting the battery as a ballast.

Thumbs up Answered: Essay Submission Awards

I was wondering when and where we should submit the entries for the Teacher of the Year, Mentor of the Year, etc. awards. After searching the board, this site was used for last year and is still...

Re: What are the limits to the Vex motors?

You would have to consider the force to make the motor reach that resulting velocity, and then work backwards by calculating the velocity from the force of the motor minus the resisting force. I...

Fields at Worlds

Two questions

1. How thoroughly are fields tested at Worlds? Ive had some problems with improperly set-up/tested fields that led to VEXNet users not being able to function, and I want to avoid...

Re: Loctite

Well, I'm worried about it chewing up the plastic. All I have is a small screw through a Delrin bearing and into the motor, and all I plan to do is use a small dab and screw it into the motor.

Re: Loctite

I make them pretty tight already, just over use they gradually vibrate out.

I know thread locking is legal, but would Teflon tape be legal as well?

It would be really, really nice if we had a...

Loctite

I was just wondering if anyone has a preference of the type of Loctite they apply to VEX screws. I'm looking for a way to fasten the small, long screws into the motors without them falling out (at...

Re: Pneumatics Force Calculations

See "Max Force."

Plus for any piston, you can measure the force by multiplying the area of the cylinder head by the pressure...

Re: VexNet Question

If the VEXNet is a fast green, then the robot is linked. Good.

If the Robot is solid red, the main battery is near dead. Replace it with a charged battery, and insure that it is properly and fully...

Re: VexNet Question

Game light shouldn't be on unless it's hooked up to a field or to a competition switch (either virtual or real).

And Spen, that wouldn't really affect anything since it's automatically 0 and 0...

Re: VexNet Question

Check the lights on the VEXNet module on the bot - they tell a story, and could probably diagnose the problem.

Do you have the backup battery plugged in? If not sometimes the robot will stop...

Re: Medium thickness anti-slip mats?

Since you don't have an advantage over other teams, and the thickness is bound to be very, very, very small difference, I would definitely think that there wouldn't be a problem with it. I mean, even...

Re: Good Robots

Don't worry. I've seen people take pics, mental notes, etc. and come back with a similar design the next competition. The thing is, every time I've seen it they don't match up to the design and...

Re: programming problem

Try this.

Since you have Ch3 for Forwards/Backwards, Ch2 for Right/Left, and Ch5 for turning, all you need is two arcade drive commands:

Arcade2 ( 0 , 3 , 5 , 1 , 2 , 0 , 0 ) ;
Arcade2 ( 0 , 2...

VEXNet Autonomous Problems

I am at the Baltimore County VEX Competition, and my robot's code is ready to go. At one match, the auto worked, stopped, started over, stopped, started over, etc. All batteries were replaced and all...

Re: when are there going to be larger or stronger axels

To be honest, a lot of bent axles are not because of the strength of the materials but rather the design itself. I had a robot in Elevation where the bar was twisted into a tight corkscrew, yet it...

Re: Good Robots

Never say that something is impossible. Just because a team is a big name and has a successful design doesn't mean it can't be 1-upped in the most unexpected way.
