Last year at the Championship the spacing was 3m45s for early qualification matches and 3m35s for later matches. Match times are rounded to the nearest minute when displayed on reports and the pit display, so that's why you see some that appear to have 4m spacing and others that have 3m.
If you think about that a bit, you'll realize that's quite a feat. A match is minimally 2m20s, but usually a bit longer for the refs to decide the autonomous winner. Thus, at the 3m35s spacing, we were starting matches less than a minute after the previous one finished last year, and as I recall we ran pretty much on time. It was quite an accomplishment. Keeping a pace like that is tough on volunteers but wonderful for spectators and makes the event really exciting (IMO).
