Re: Team 404 Post-Nationals Robots+Strategies Reveal

So are there any videos of 404 and 404A in the finals?

Re: Team 404 Post-Nationals Robots+Strategies Reveal

Perfect timing. I just finished uploading all of our videos.

Unfortunately, we only took videos of our alliance matches. Also, some of the matches we played were not recorded.

Also, for those who might notice, the Nationals Black QF 2 matches that I had previously posted were actually the QF 3 matches, and I have changed this accordingly.

Here is the link to Finals Match 1:

Re: Team 404 Post-Nationals Robots+Strategies Reveal

Also, here are the close-up pictures we meant to add to the initial reveal.

Robot 1 (404)

Robot 2 (404D)

Robot 3 (404A)

Robot 4 (404E)

Robot 5 (404C)

Also, as I've already mentioned, some of the plates are different than "listed" because our teams work collaboratively, and our team tags are pretty much arbitrary.

Is that tape on the sides of your robots?

Anyway, great job at Nationals! You guys were extremely fast at what you did. I would be scared to go against you

Good luck at Worlds!

Color coding your robots and controllers is an awesome idea! I remember being late to matches because our other team accidentally used our joystick

LOL Thanks! but if our strategies fit together, we can even be allied for elimination! It's all about synergy

Watch out Team 404...sounds like there might be some copying designs at world :/

This is why I don't want my team to do reveals...people copy like crazy. You should've posted this reveal later in the game...like 1 week before World.

Re: Team 404 Post-Nationals Robots+Strategies Reveal

why are you so against it?
by the time the "copiers" finally finished copying what they have above
404 will be well ahead and upgraded to V2 by worlds

this is why you can never catch up to the original
its an ongoing process

Re: Team 404 Post-Nationals Robots+Strategies Reveal

Ideas can be copied onto an already good robot, though. Falling over your robot on purpose and putting wheels on your intake so you can still be mobile in that state could be used against 404 by a good team whom 404 might otherwise have beaten.

I'm not against copying, I'm just arguing against the assertion that copying is never effective. It quite obviously is, especially if what you are copying is a simple and modular robot component rather than a whole robot.

A lot of high school teams whom AURA could never hope to beat use 6-bars, for example. While some teams probably came up with the idea independently, I imagine most probably saw someone else doing it before they had a chance to invent it themselves.

Why does the 404E Robot have a 404C plate on it?
