Re: 8059B Robot Reveal {WARNING}
They would be touching the game objects, but I'm sure they are still counted as "non-functional" items

Re: 8059B Robot Reveal {WARNING}
NICE ROBOT!
very unique lift system and i still dont get what the pistons do? (catapults objects?) if you can lift 6 objects to 30" in 1 second how long does it take for you to lower your empty arm from 30" to the ground?? |

Re: 8059B Robot Reveal {WARNING}
The pistons pull up the front mini omnis to allow the robot to score high center goal in iso. In the 3rd picture I think just examine the front minis and the pistons, then it becomes clear.

Re: 8059B Robot Reveal
EDIT: Sorry for the typo, but the actual robot skills score was 32.

Its not linear lift since the two 4-bar arms are not the same length 7-8kg is about 15-17 pounds. The dual 4-bar gearing is similar to the "Dual Parallel Bar Soda-bot " in the gallery The 5:1 ratio is really 2.5:1, since the same motor rotation drives both 4bars arms simultaneously; but the double stack means that arms can be shorter. It would be interesting to study the various arm lift mechanisms and recharacterize them by (number of motor shaft rotations) : (lift distance bottom to top). Is it 6 wheel drive? The piston lift front wheels automatically give some suspension for drop-center. Can you share your motor port assignment? There are lots of opportunities for parts-count reduction on your robot; for example, hex bars with spacers can be replaced by custom length hexbars. You might try experimenting with using hinges for the unpowered 4-bar joints. Hinges have less play and more side-to-side stiffness than the axle joints you have now. |

Re: 8059B Robot Reveal {WARNING}
At the Mid Atlantic Championship, the refs counted tape (only decoration) which touched the elements as functional, because of the clause in the Manual stating that even paint touching elements counted. Thankfully, they weren't disqualified, but they had to remove the tape.

5225A (in my division) had a lot of either tape or some kind of laminate all over their drivebase... They weren't required to remove it. //Andrew |

Re: 8059B Robot Reveal {WARNING}
It was a qualification match in Technology. Engineering had different referees, and they might have made a different ruling.
