Re: Kinda like GER... 1471A 2012 reveal

the robot has a lot of power. We got it up to about 65 pounds of dead weight on it and still able to drive relatively smoothly without periodic motor failure. Pretty crazy how much these motors can handle. We will definitely test against heavier opponents soon.

yeah, vex motors are like magic
and if you take a motor apart entirely, you can see that the actual motor inside is about the same size as your thumbnail!

Re: Kinda like GER... 1471A 2012 reveal

We've definitely witnessed the insides of the motors a few too many times due to having to replace all the internal gears this week since the motors have been used for quite a while. We also had to resolder a connection in one once.

Re: Kinda like GER... 1471A 2012 reveal

The arm extends once at the start of the match. It has a chain bar for claw orientation with the chains screwed in at the sprocket so it orients right. The claw starts back in the starting box and as soon as we lift it during autonomous the arm rockets forward with rubber bands and stays out with a ratchet that you can see in the picture on the rack gears.
