12 Tooth Pinions Question
Hey guys,
I wasn't sure where to put this... Anyways I have a question about the 12 tooth Pinion gears, Specifically the HS ones. What kind of metal are they? Is the metal hardened in anyway? Reason I ask is I am trying to machine them for a project. And I kinda exploded one... I have a few other things to try to machine it. Thanks - Andrew

From the product page:
The 12-tooth High Strength Gear is molded out of powdered metal. The 36-tooth and 60-tooth Gears have powdered metal inserts. It's probably sintered zinc, but if it's ferromagnetic that would make it iron. The surface looks like this which I think is iron, although I can't tell for sure from the page.
