No the fact that the axles are only going through 1/8th inch of material (the delrin pillow blocks). In one of your pictures the pillow blocks were bent at a not happy angle. I suppose it works but it's not very pleasant to look at

For this years competition i don't think mecanums are going to be necessary. Depending on how you are going to intake, strafing may be a good idea, but mecanums take away from strafing speed, whereas a holonomic drive will have the same speed in all directions, so IF you use strafing at all, I would use holonomic drive. No mecanums.

holomic is just as fast as mecanum while strafing.... have you ever made a holonomic drive even?
