Greetings
teams,
Over the past month or so, the planning committee helping to organize the Vex Robotics World Championship has been going back and forth on a couple event aspects which they are not 100% sure about. In the last discussion, the committee members expressed the following general feeling and opinion:
"The event is not 'our' competition, it is for the
teams and it is 'their' competition. If there are some decisions we aren't sure about and the only groups they really impact are the teams, why don't we let them decide? The goal is to make the competition the best possible experience for the teams and students, so let's make the teams part of the decision making process and let them decide items we'd be fine going either way on. All of this is being done for the teams, so let's listen to them and let them help guide us to make the best decisions."
So in that spirit, we've decided to try a new idea. In some situations, when the group is undecided which option would be best for the
teams, we are going to let the teams decide in an online poll. We're going to test this idea this week with two decisions the committee needs to finalize concerning the event schedule, the number of matches per
team and ceremonies.
Above is the first survey question, regarding how long to extend the event on Friday, May 2nd. A second question will be posted in a second thread/poll regarding how to allocate time for ceremonies and matches.
We are eager to get input and feedback from the
teams to help provide the best event and experience possible for all the
team members participating. As we said at the beginning, at the end of the day these events are for the
teams and the students, they are "your" events and we want you to help us make them them best they can be. Thanks in advance for participating and placing your vote.
