General Information
702E "Enterprise" is a world championship-bound VEX Robotics team. Our robot has won 4 world championship qualifications (3 tournament wins and 1 Robot Skills win) in 4 tournaments. All information on this wiki page is copied from our team's website on March 23, 2010.
Our Robot
Versions 0.1 - 0.4
Experimental megadump (15 or so footballs) ideas. None came to fruition and none competed.
Version 0.5
A last minute entry to the early Hawthorne Heights competition, which scooped balls onto a tray on top of the robot. The tray would tip, dumping the balls over the side.
Version 1.0
This was our first serious design. It won 3/3 of the competitions it was entered in, and one Robot Skills challenge. This is a fast scoring robot which sucks up balls and dumps them over the wall. Its basket is effective for blocking, too. It has a reliable autonomous that usually scores about 25-35 points, but always at least 20.
Version 2.0
We decided to rethink our Version 1.0 design and we are improving it in Version 2.0. The drivetrain is faster (even when weighted) than any robot we have seen in a competition so far.
Additionally, some very original designs have been implemented on our robot, such as an innovative system to prevent clutches from stripping and to make acceleration and braking much smoother. (No details, sorry).
This version, when completed, will be a fast scoring robot which can score green, orange, and white balls. We will post average scoring times when our intake system is complete.
Our whole team is putting in about 4 hours per person per day this week, and we are hoping to complete this version by March 27, leaving most of April for autonomous development, driving practice, and experiments with programmed driving aids.
