VEX Triplets

When RadioShack requested the construction of 3 robots that "demonstrated the versatility of the VEX kit" for demos around the world, it provided a good excuse to build some of the "cool" concepts talked about around VEXLabs that were never built.

After the original concepts were shown to RadioShack they liked them so much, 3 more identical machines were built. The resulting robots can be seen below.

Swerve Bot

This robot is the first ALL-VEX swerve drive. Inspired by a drive system type seen in FRC robots, this machine is able to move around with incredible agility. Wildstang, eat your heart out.

Description

  • Constructed from 1 Starter Kit + 1 Additional Servo
  • Wheels independently driven, can be independently rotated up to 120°
  • Robot "swerves" around obstacles and can "crab" sideways on the floor
  • 2 Motor, 2 Wheel Drive
  • Low Traction Front Wheels


Tumbler-Bot

The VEX Tumbler

The goal of this robot was to create something "fun to drive" that is "almost indestructible".


Description

  • Constructed from 1 Starter Kit + 2 Additional Large Wheels + 1 Motor
  • High Speed, 4-Motor, 4 Wheel Drive
  • Capable of driving upside down
  • Capable of climbing up vertical objects
  • "All-Terrain" Drive train


Ping-Pong-Bot

The VEX Ping Pong Bot

This machine is capable of sucking up regulation ping-pong balls, and shooting them forward in a high arc.

    • 2 Starter Kits
    • 1 Tank Tread Kit
    • 1 Sprocket/Chain Kit
  • Holds 7 Ping-Pong Balls
  • Spring-loaded firing mechanism
  • 2 Motor, Tank Tread Drivetrain
  • Chain Lifted Arm (gravity fed down)
