More than 8 motors?

  1. 3 weeks ago

    Hello,
I was wondering if you are able to have more than 8 motors on your robot (using V5) but they just aren’t plugged in or powered?
    Thank you

    <R12> Robots may use either:
Option 1: A VEX ARM® Cortex®-based Microcontroller, up to ten (10) 2-Wire Motors or VEX
Servos (in any combination up to ten) and a legal VRC pneumatic system per <R19>.
Option 2: A VEX ARM® Cortex®-based Microcontroller, up to twelve (12) 2-Wire Motors or VEX
Servos (in any combination up to twelve) and no pneumatic components, excluding pneumatic
    tubing.
Option 3: A V5 Robot Brain, up to six (6) V5 Smart Motors, and a legal VRC pneumatic system
    per <R19>.
Option 4: A V5 Robot Brain, up to eight (8) V5 Smart Motors, and no pneumatic components,
    excluding pneumatic tubing.

The motor limit does not indicate if the motors are plugged in or not.

It says that motors cannot be used as decorations.

<R8> Teams may add non-functional decorations, provided that they do not affect the robot
performance in any significant way or affect the outcome of the match. These decorations must be
in the spirit of the competition. Inspectors will have final say in what is considered “non-functional”.
    ...
    f. VEX motors, or components of VEX motors, may not be used as nonfunctional decorations.

If it even LOOKS like a motor...
