We’re very excited about the 2008/2009 VEX Robotics Competition season – there are already over 40 different events announced and listed! We know how important it is to teams and event organizers to see planned events listed as early as possible, so teams know what options are available in their areas as they plan for the upcoming season and school year.
Over 20 more event listings are being finalized and will be added in the next few weeks, including events in many different US states, countries such as Mexico, Brazil, Canada and numerous countries in Asia. Be sure to check back, as more local events will continually be listed at the above site each week between now and September.
Again, Team registration is open now! Event Registration for many of the listed events will begin next week – once teams have registered and received their official team number, they can go in to sign up for events.
Cool a couple of questions. Any timeline for when the more information about the college competition will come out, or registration open? Also same thing for the VEX Robotics Design Challenge.
Holy!! Just looking at the events I’m very excited!
For all the Canadian teams, I count 4 events in Toronto, St. Catherines cough simbotics and Nova Scotia and another Ontario city. Our team may not even go to a US competition because there are so many events here.
heh thanks. If we want to go to virginia our team needs to start fundraising right now. Now where did I put my sponsership package and list of sponsors
Looks like we’re signing up 4 teams next week - the fees being so low is such a big help. A couple of us went down to the Vex World Champ in LA last month, and it was incredible, we can’t wait to play next year now.
Lots of events already listed, which is very cool to - I do hope more show up in CA, it’s a big state and we could really use a few closer ones so we can enter more than 1 tournament.
My friend and I are also really hoping to see details on the college competition also - depending on the details, we’re hoping to get some of our fellow students and a prof to help start a team here.
Sounds like you are going to have to scrape together the few dollars needed for the low-budget (PVC perimeter) field and start your own local tournament. Once you have the bare essentials for the field, there is little standing in your way.
If you skip all the hoopla and just get some folks together to play the game, it is a fun way to spend a Saturday in any open space large enough to hold the field, pit tables for 6-8 teams, and a handful of spectators in chairs. Once your local teams have the kinks worked out of their strategies and machinery; then you head off to one of the other fancier events.
