I’m a bit surprised to see the Design Challenge get removed this year.

We’re very interested in the FUTURE challenge this year. We’ve actually got a project going that would work amazingly well for that, along with all the documentation. Does anyone know when they will give out more specific information on what is required in the submission? The requirements field is currently blank.
The requirements are repeated in the competition detailed description. Now that we are recovering from World Championship, we will get those pages updated. You should look for at least one and possibly two additional online challenges, too.
Just like the official VRC game rules, there may be clarifications in the Online Challenge rules over the next two months, so make sure you check back before finalizing your entry.
I’d love to see your trophy award design, but I imagine that you are going to keep us waiting until you submit it, right? 
Andrew – did you mean the Autodesk Sustainable Design Challenge? Never fear, we are working with Autodesk to get the rules and prizes finalized and will have it online in the next couple of weeks. There will definitely be an Autodesk challenge again this year.
Currently I can find all the FUTURE Challenge details by clicking on “click to show details”. It’s just to the right of where it says “Challenge Details” near the bottom of the page.

Will Vex IQ teams be required to submit one of these for the Excellence Award? Some list VRC and Vex U only.
Many of the challenges are probably beyond the skills of a 4-5th grader besides the essay.
I guess we should not get ahead of ourselves and register some IQ teams first…

At the present time, we do not expect to have any Online Challenges for VEX IQ Challenge participants in the 2013-2014 school year.
That’s too bad. Would it be possible for VEX IQ teams to enter into the VEX online challenges ?

Give us a few days to talk this over. We decided not to do a challenge or challenges specifically for VEX IQ this season, but it might make sense to open some of the existing challenges to VEX IQ students as long as they do not mind competing with older students.
Any update on this? Still plenty of time and all I was just curious.
The final version of the Autodesk Sustainability Design Challenge is in the approval process. This can take a little long with sponsored challenges, but I think you will be excited about the new Autodesk challenge, which will include several new prizes and have expanded eligibility.
