Same. Funny enough Crossover and Ringmaster were my first competitions, so I’m going to love this year.
How far into the design process are you?
- Haven’t even thought about it
- Have some ideas
- Started picking a design
- Sketching/ cadding
- Building
- Done my robot
What about the option “Already won the Worlds in my mind and enjoy the Red Trophy on my imaginary trophy shelf”?
Heck yeah man, that’s me
Are VRC high school teams allowed to use 3D printing/3D pens to make non functional parts/decorations on the robot? I think only Vex U teams can but I’m not sure?
Any question asking about the legality of something is answered by the game manual (or by the Official Q&A). As you read the game manual (https://content.vexrobotics.com/docs/21-22/tipping-point/GameManual.pdf ), keep in mind that the game manual tells you things that you MUST do, and things that you are PROHIBITED from doing. It can’t tell you everything you might do, so if the game manual does not prohibit an action, then it is legal. In regards to your question, please review R13 (and R8-g). Do you see 3D printing prohibited for making non-functional decorations?
“ 1. Non-functional 3D printed license plates, per and , are permitted. This includes any supporting structures whose sole purpose is to hold, mount, or display an official license plate.” This is rule R8G in the manual and I guess as long as the 3D printing is non-functional, it’s allowed even if it’s not a license plate?
Yes, you are interpreting the rule correctly. The rule about non-functional decorations does not restrict how you make the non-functional decoration. If you want to glue googly eyes to a pipe cleaner and wire it to your robot, go ahead. That would be no different than 3D printing a non-functional decoration.
The rule about 3D printed license plate holders was added because of the ambiguity about whether a license plate is functional or not, therefore is the holder functional or not.
Generally speaking, if something is truly non-functional, and doesn’t otherwise cause issues, you can slap it on your robot and be fine
If the game manual didn’t say anything about it then you should be able to steal/get mogos stolen from you. The game manual only really tells you what you MUST do and what you CAN’T do, meaning that anything that isn’t mentioned is up for grabs.
Ok, thanks! I just don’t want to be flagged by the ref for being too aggressive.
Does anyone have the link for the VRC Official Q and A? The vex game manual says it opens today. Thanks!
When the Q&A becomes active, you can easily find it using the links on this page: Robot Events
Modifying the URL from last season, it should be at this link when it opens - Q&A: VRC 2021-2022: Tipping Point : Robot Events
Want to see what people are doing and their progress so I made a poll.

Q&A is officially opened up. I have already posted a question.
Ah, if your question is about the heights of the Mobile Goals, please refer to Appendix A if you don’t want to wait for an official Q&A response that will tell you the same thing.
It was posted in the original post of this thread.
