I have a game element to play with and they do balance on their side when turned. They are also super light weight. Good luck!
But the pieces are straightforward and thereâs NO string.
Are they made of plastic, foam, or something else?
Are you sure? Have you seen Rapid React at all?
while the game seems interesting for drivers, i canât help but dislike the possession limit. The game does seems kind of simple though? Like normally we have 3 methods of scoring but this year we only really have 2. I guess the barrier counts as an element but it just feels less complicated you know?
One problem with throwing: itâll bounce weirdly like a rugby ball, so it could even go backwards
Question: Doesnât the endgame make using a motor for a clamp unusable, because of how the power cuts after the driver control period?
This game is really interesting. It includes elements from past games like the divided field and the pull ups/hanging. Another thing- each alliance gets A LOT of preloads, more than the number of triballs on the field!
AWP looks much easier this year than Spin Up- based on the video. You need one ally tball in your goal, remove one tball from your ally match loading zone, and be touching the horizontal bar on the sides of the field.
The scoring for the hanging is also weird. Itâs based on your position relative to everyone else. That means that even if your robot can on only pull up to a mid tier, if nobody else hangs, you still get a lot of points. 20 points can probably swing the game in the end.
I agree with you, it does seem kinda simple, but I believe that this yearâs game is about strategy because of double zoning
I really like the âoverâ and âunderâ for the names of bots, I will definitely use that next year
I mean, you never know until you actually try it. You might find that you enjoy it after trying the actual thing! Yeah, it seems confusing at first, but you be the judge after youâve actually competed in a tournament for this upcoming season. Also the game manual will clarify a lot of things, so I think you might find some interesting things there. The main judging if itâs fun or not though, try it for yourself!
Now I want to be on a team called feeling squirrelly
If the possession works like Spin Up did (convex/concave) I will scream
Of any FRC game, this game seems like it will be played similarly to FRC 2016. The cycles will probably be the most similar. With the climb being also fairly similar.
Interesting, but potentially heavily limiting.
If the rules are anything like spin up, this will be incredibly annoying and hard to navigate.
I donât like the field layout, as it essentially forces certain kinds of wheels/metals/robot weights
Hanging, while it may not seem like it, would probably be a meta and extremely limiting.
On good notes:
Interesting
Semi-Unique
âNewâ
Probably a lot less jank than most, provided that the field elements are durable
There are technically 3 ways to score. In the video if you have one of tri-balls in your zone thatâs 2 points itâs 5 if you get it in the net and then the climb. So if youâre counting the zone scoring there are 3 ways to make points.
I donât think we will be seeing a lot of âshooter mecsâ
Like I replied to someone else, you never really know until you actually compete in the game about whether you like it or not!
Possession always works in the concave/convex format, thatâs what possession means!
Plastic. No give, pretty solid. The texture is âgrippyâ (said by my driver), not smooth like the rings from tipping point, so they should be easier to hold on to, but the shape is a bit cumbersome.
