3:1 High Speed Tank

Hi,

I have been experimenting with a High speed 3:1 Tank drive chassis, this works fine however, its is only running off of a small aluminum frame. If this was to be incorporated into a full robot… what is the amount of weight that I can put of this chassis with 4 motors. Has anyone tried to test this.
Also what are the substitute gearing that everyone one is using with 4 high speed motors.

What sized wheels are you using? Also do you mean high speed motors with 3:1, giving a overall 4.8:1 ratio or an overall 3:1 ratio?

4.8:1 4" omni
@LEER

Ok 2 things,

You will need 8 motors for this setup
You might not be able to run this on 4in wheels

I have a 4.8-1 with 3.25in omnis and 8 motors and that is pushing it

what is the best ratio for 4 motors high speed
@ThunderRobotics

1:1

1-1 will give you a good combo of both torque and speed and that is also what I would reccomend for a drive with 4 motors.

If you want to see what ratios are good for speed, use stanley’s posts in this thread https://vexforum.com/t/drive-top-speeds/31849/1

He has calculations based on motors and stall torque
