So I have 1 motor and lots of rubber bands. How can I make it to where a three stage tray can fold out . I need help.
Just to clarify, are you trying to use the motor as part of the foldout?
Yes, I was hoping that the motor can allow the other tray to flip out. We had it working but the cube would not fit.
Does the tray have a tilter? Is it a complex or simple tray?
I think complex.
well, there are multiple ways you could do this
- Basic 2 stage flipout, with 1 or 2 stage slider tray.
- make the rollers make the tray flip out
- If you have a tray that flips out from the back you can put it underneath an object on your robot and it will deploy when you make the tilter go forward.
Keep in mind there is a lot of other ways you can do it, I just listed only 3.
Okay where do I put the rubber bands so only one folds out.
if it flips out of the back and you are using the vex hinges, you would make a piece of metal stick out of the top of the bottom tray and put a rubber band on it going to the bottom of the top tray, but it is better if you make the tray flip out from the front. If you are doing that (I haven’t done this yet but im doing it today) you would screw half of a piece of metal onto the top of the bottom tray and you would screw in part of the top tray onto that piece of metal at 1 point making it a hinge (I think, I haven’t done this yet).
goofy has a good deploy that you could do.
We are just going to make a 2 fold since we don’t have enough space. @CarCar I will get your sticker Wednesday
I made one that folds into a kinda box shape and uses a rubber band put under a wheel to stay in size
A slider tray will take up almost no space so you could add that on top of the fold-out.
This video shows a Ri3D which used an active foldout. At the beginning of the program, you can see a channel with a standoff attached that flips down, allowing the tray to expand.
It’s totally jank, but it worked for us in 3 days, so it’ll probably work for you.
We will do a slide out tray
