Not bad, have you tested ways that it can be improved?

I have a bit but I’m going to wait to add anything until after our meet tomorrow.

Cool, good luck on that meet

One thing I think could be improved is the angle of launch. It seems that your weight is hitting the ground prematurely and losing all its momentum. If it was launched at a higher angle it would travel in an arch and go further. Also because the mechanism is so close to the ground it may be easily blocked by another robot so if you could move it up higher you could possibly launch over other robots.

I see. So like mounting it on the top would be better?

And yeah because it’s so low, in our meet yesterday it kept getting hooked by other bots.

Did you figure out why the rope ties into a knot? Does it do every time?

It depends on how we bundle it up to get it in the basket. Sometimes it’s worse than other times.

I would look up “how to coil rope so it won’t tangle | kink”. Boaters do this so they can throw rope long distances without knotting up.

There are many techniques - find the one that suits you best.

In addition to what other people suggested you could try using a heavier weight. For example the pneumatic nuts on the end of the reservoir.

Yeah we would but we don’t have any pneumatics

Maybe a small flex wheel then?

Nor do we have those.

Put more weight on the projectile (I can’t see super well what it is), you can use keps, normal hex, or nylocks for this.

Make the angle more aggressive, and add more launching power (Rubber bands etc).

The projectile is two bearings with a spacer in between. (sorry for the bad picture… had to snag off of notebook)

If you can, at hex nuts between the bearings for that extra weight.

Good idea, I’ll do that
