37 point Autonamous... is it legal

Hi there forumers. I made an autonomous that steals the triball in the middle of the oponents side and places it in my own goal. If my arm that I use to steal the triball does not touch the ground on the other side, is it a legal move? or can you not legaly breack the plane of the middle bar?

Hey! The game manual is your friend, but I would check out SG9, as I think that’s what you’re looking for. The manual and QNA have every bit of information you’ll need.

Not sure which triball you’re talking about, can you be more specific, maybe an image? Just a hint though, you cannot cross the single line or the opposite offensive/defensive side

Hello, according to SG9, “During the Autonomous Period, Robots may not contact foam tiles, Triballs, or Field Elements on the opposing Alliance’s side of the Neutral Zone, or in the opposite Offensive Zone from which they began the Match”

Hope this helps!

Hi. Just to clarify, the triball I am talking about is the one in red in the image below.

the triballs in blue are the other triballs I plan to score in my auton.

You can have any mechanism stretch as far into the other zone as you want, as long as it doesn’t touch the ground. So yes.

Yeah, during both close side and far side, you can get that ball

Just making sure i understand, so you start on the blue side and are trying to get the triballs from the red side?

Yes. my starting position is labeled in red in this image:

I was also wondering if this triball counts as “on the oposite Offensive Zone” as it is touching the middle barier. For instance, if a robot is touching the middle barier, it can not be called for double zoning. Does this also aply to tribals in Auton? I have looked in the game manual but cannot find a definite answer. Have any of you seen a referee ruling in a similar situation?

Rule SG9

Offensive zones

I’m going assume (by common sense) that when they say in an offensive zone, they mean a triball that is touching the tiles in the offensive zone. Therefore, no.

I had a question about this as well, and it seems to be answeredish by the Game manual and I believe it was in the head ref training quiz, but I also am seeing a different call at a signature event, so I am confused. From the rule SG9, it says that bots may not contact the balls on the opponents side of the neutral zone. So if a red bot were to start on the bottom left corner (Point of reference using the images above) and grab a green triball on the double line on the left side, this would be a violation. This would mean these triballs would not be contested. This contradicts the finals for sugar rush, but I want to know if I am misinterpretting sg9. Thanks
