I’m curious why didn’t you just do the standard 1 motor flywheel 1 motor intake for 6 motor drive. I’ve never seen a flywheel sharing mechanism that is worth the weight increase.
Hi. We actually started off with a one motor flywheel and one motor intake but the reload speed for one motor flywheel was way too slow. We also didn’t know about adding weights to the flywheel back then so we went with a two motor flywheel ratcheted to intake to keep our 6 motor drive. Now we are adding the weights to the flywheel (going back to 1 motor) and without the motor sharing mechanism our robot is way lighter.
I would also consider increasing your flywheel angle. You should ideally have like around 40-45 degrees. It will be more of an arc then like 30 ish but it is definitely worth it in our teams experience. Idk what urs is right now tho. Also you should consider ratcheting indexer so you don’t need a heavy pneumatic tank. (You dont need a tank for pnumatic endgame btw)
We have a steeper angle and rapid fire close range works so much better. We’re actually using a pneumatic indexer and it works really well. Our original plan was actually like what your team did, ratcheting intake to indexer but we experienced a ton of problems when ratcheting flywheel to intake and we don’t have time to test it out. We’ll test it out after our next competitions.
