Hello as the new season for vex iq is coming up our team has some doubts about how to design a vex iq robot in 3 dimensions we have tried using snapcad yet we have run into many roadblocks in terms of the difficulty curve if anyone can help it would be much appreciatedđ
I have used SnapCad and I think it is very difficult to understand. I believe people have used Onshape (I think thatâs it?) but you could look up a tutorial. I would suggest you just design it on paper as itâs then easy credit for your notebook!
Just a quick note, CADs can (and should) go in notebook â adding 3D models is a great way to showcase potential designs and the process of making a CAD can often stop potential building problems before they start.
Check for âLDCad for VEXâ. Thatâs what my students were using while we were doing Vex IQ. I havenât checked it lately, but have no reason to think it got broken somehow over time.
LDCad is originally a rather intuitive, while powerful CAD for Lego.
@Philo_Hurbain has created a library of IQ parts and a package that simplifies the installation tremendously. See https://www.philohome.com/vexldcad/ldcad4vex.htm
