3D Model of a Cone

Yo Yo Yo,

Has anybody seen a cad model of the game pieces this season? I remember the last season we had a model of the star fairly quickly.

Thanks,

I have a CAD model. Would you like some pictures?

I downloaded it from the VEX site: CAD Models for game elements? - General Forum - VEX Forum (link inside thread)

If anybody is interested in 3D printing a few of these to get ahead of the competition, I made a stl file.

Just ask if you need any help.

Thanks! You beat me to it… now to figure out the best orientation, wall thickness and infill. Hmmm…

Jason

Hmm… bigger than it looked on the video! My little PrintRBot isn’t going to cut it… off to the Ultimaker!

Did you use supports?

I used supports, but I set it to a very low amount.

Thanks Murf, it’s on the printer now.

makerbot made me print at 95% scale :frowning:

I rotated the model 90 degrees to print with the base perpendicular to the bed, it seems to use less support, and it fits a makerbot build volume.

I thought about doing that but I felt like one side of the cone would turn out rougher than the other bc of the supports.

Regardless, after 16 hours and a quarter roll of PLA Yellow, it turned out great. So great, in fact, I think I may continue to use this even after I get my real ones, assuming weight and texture are not too different.

That looks great!

Same feeling over here… Looks Great!

@phantom285A did you print that full size? When I put ours on the bed (5th gen), it was too tall. I printed mine on its side, no supports, 2 wall thickness, 10% infill.
