does anyone have a suggestion of what i should use to 3D model my robot id like to create a nice 3D model of the robot
Autodesk Fusion 360, Autodesk Inventor, Solidworks, onShape. There are quite a few and I think all of these are free for educational use.
I’d recommend Autodesk Inventor, it’s a free 3 year license for students.
I use Fusion 360 to make a model of my robot. It works really nice, and you can download a library of parts which makes things much easier.
If you want to do something quick, robotmesh studio has a mimic on it where you can build your robot. Its very simple to use, but my only critique is that the parts that you can use to build your robot on it is limited.
look up the autodesk inventor CAD library, it is incomplete but it has most vex parts and the rest can easily be downloaded from the vex site
The get the student version of Autodesk Inventor
I reccomend the 2019 if you have a decent computer, 2020 if you have a better computer, the 2020 needs some more processing/RAM to run good
Here’s a paper that talks about all the CAD software available for free educational use, along with useful links to various CAD libraries: CAD for VEX Robotics (2).pdf (300.8 KB)
