What are the rules this year on 3D printing things we were planning on 3D printing a license plate holder for our license plates so they were easier to switch out. We’ve heard a lot of mixed responses to this like we’ve heard that they are only for decorative use but we went to a competition and teams were using 3D printed license plate holders and passed inspection.

The only things you can 3D print are decorative items and license plate holders. There are some designs on thingverse.com. This is a super simple one as an example Vex Robotics License Plate Holder by FHS_Robotics - Thingiverse
License plates holders/license plates are considered “non-functional decorations”.
we have 3d printed licence plate holders and we passed inspections every time because they are decorative and non functional just make sure that they cant see the other color
