Ok, so I know the game manual says that 3d printed parts are NOT ALLOWED even for decoration. What is the new hot swap meta for license plates?
i mean yeah technically, but im just thinking something that is quick like the old ones
the “speed” at which you swap your plates really doens matter. what we used even this season since we didnt trust Mag plates and didnt like how heavy they were was 2 standoffs and we jsut screwed the paltes to the standoffs. tokk litreally 20 seconds to change. 4 screws.
Just bend aluminum plates in the shape of the old ones. Ik it looks bad but at least it’s light
1 bar steel does the trick - sandwich two plates on each side. In pix there is zip tie, but not really needed.
with speed as the only concern then probably this
I personally wont be doing this though. Im just going to use screws and keps nuts prolly.
You could just strap some rubber bands around the edges to prevent the plate from moving
This is really neat. Shame that part is heavy (steel of course) and long, which just makes this not worth it
hmm maybe there is a way to construct this with aluminium instead, maybe we could try bending a c Chanel like this and then bending one of those c chan gussets so it fits like the piece inside.
I didn’t think of that. Good idea.
So, I don’t know for sure anything about VEX V5 because I am in VEX IQRC, therefore, nothing I say can I tell you it will be absolutely factual. But, for us, 3D license plates and decorations are 100% required, as long as they do not interfere with the mobility and height of the robot used in competition, of course if you are not going to competition, rules do not apply
I feel like you could make a holder and use chain to hold it in and be fast
That used to be the case for us, but this year they banned 3D printing altogether.
Thought I should post this as a first draft of a locking quick release plate holder.
There should be a rubber band tensioning the latch.
I really like that. Simple, robust, and fast. I’m fixing to build one of those this morning, i’ll let you know how it goes!
At least you did not suggest pop rivets
