3D printed tools

I made a few 3D printable tools for this season:

  1. A tool holder to mount to your robots. It holds two different sized Allen wrenches and an open end wrench. I’ve also included the Fusion 360 file so you can change it to fit your tools specifically.vex tool holder v2.f3d (107.5 KB)

2. A stencil for the Tipping point field that you can use in your notebooks.!

This is especially great, being the notebook writer! Do you think that you’ll make one for next year’s game, once that comes out?

If I have some free time and remember to do it, I will.

What do you need to scale the tool holder to for it to fit? When I upload it to cura it’s only a few millimeters big. Or do I need to upload it in inches instead of millimeters?

I forgot it’s in inches, scale it up to 2540%

I ended up just import it in inches lol. Thank you though. Also, what orientation would you recommend printing it in? Would you recommend vertical (how it loads when imported into cura) with supports, or on its back? And if on it’s back should I use supports just in case the overhang for the wrench needs it or will it print fine on its own?

That stencil is super cool

And they say there is no use for a 3D printer in VEX. Ha!

I modified the tool holder for strength on the wrench clip. It also is in MM now and is automatically in printing orientation (Basically, I just made it easier to print and to be stronger without needing higher infill). I would recommend 10-20% infill, 0.2 layer height. Supports are necessary for the overhang of the wrench clip to print properly, so enable supports and set them to everywhere. You shouldn’t need a raft but it might be smart on a lower end printer. Vex Tools Holder.stl (32.0 KB)

I have a feeling you’re going to your 3D printer right about now

Going to laser cut this into acrylic maybe. Seems cool as well and much faster
