3D Printing VEX Components VEX U

Hi! I just started a VEX U team with a friend, and this is our first season competing. I know that the game manual allows teams to use 3D printed parts. However, may I know if we are able to 3D print VEX components by directly using their product CAD files on the VEX website and use them on the robot in competition? I have seen the Purdue Sigbots and other university teams use 3D printed gears and wheels that are very similar to the original VEX parts. Thanks!

yes this is legal. 20char

I don’t think that 3D printed Vex product CAD files are “official” though because Vex didn’t sell it to you (and Vex likes making money)

Please read the manual (RTM). If you’ve already read the game manual, mention the rules that you believe apply in your question.

seems to me they would be fabricated parts, VUR7-b says.

Any Fabricated Part must have been entirely designed and produced by Team members.

So the team must design the part, not VEX.
