3rd Party Sensors

Hi all!

I am building a robot to pick up and sort black and white balls by color. I was wondering if there is a way to use non-VEX sensors to sense the color of the balls. I know there are optical and vision sensors that VEX offers, but they are a little out of budget. Is there a way to connect/program 3rd party sensors using the V5 brain or connecting an Arduino to it? Please let me know if you have any solutions, thanks!

Vex doesnt allow 3rd party products for competition, with a very small exception on plastic screws/nuts, polycarb, and very little more. This does not include electronics.
