I was wondering if I could use 3 Y-Splitter cables to allow one port to run 4 motors at the same time, but I’m afraid it might fry the Cortex. Is it safe to do this?
If you want to compete, no.
I wouldn’t do it.
Edit:
I should add IMHO it is not safe. Most typical 0.1" headers have pins rated at 3A (or less) continuous current. A 393 motor when running continuously can easily use 1A, four motors puts you over the safe limit. It will not catch fire or anything like that but there is the potential to cause damage to the cortex motor connection if operated in this way.
