53999F Post-States Reveal

We finally got around to making a reveal this year. Here’s one of two robots representing the Harpursville Robo-Hornets at worlds: 53999F also known as Timmy V8

This robot has looked largely similar since January with some minor improvements over time. The reason we have a 4 motor drive is because we just got our pneumatics in the Sunday before states so there was no time for a major overhaul. Instead, we just converted the claw and made the lift 2 motors with a faster gear ratio. This is pretty unique to our robot and it helps a lot with skills (which we sort of specialize in) as it makes the robot much faster at stacking five goals onto the one platform. It also makes the programming skills faster in that area which helped. We have had a CAD designed robot utilizing pneumatics since January that we planned to build once pneumatics came in but that didn’t work out so after some design changes, that will become our worlds bot.

We qualified to worlds for the first time this year (we’re all seniors) through getting the skills champion award at the Northern New York State Championship. We won with a combined score of 473 (330 driver and 143 programming). While our unofficial best score is much better at 592 (363 driver and 229 programming) this didn’t work out at competition due to our autonomous failing to balance one of the platforms and our ring intake jamming up during driver. It was still enough to qualify though as other people had their own unluckiness as well.

Good luck at worlds!

At 1:03 it looks like you could use some more bracing. Cool reveal though.

True. I saw that while editing. There’s no triangle bracing at all and the towers are just connected by a sideways 3-wide C-channel on one side and an L-channel on the other so it’s pretty wiggly.
