Nice robot, looking forward to meet you at worlds! =)

Thank you, looking forward to meeting you all too!

Nice Robot, I love the side panels.

I like the winch hanging mechanism. Just one question: why did you put tape all over your controller? Other than that, looks like a great robot that has preformed well all year.

Thanks, its one of my favorite things about it lol (:

Thanks! And someone, still not sure who though, from my school put it on my controller. I thought it looked awesome so I left it on there. It’s a vinyl material that we use to make banners and window prints and stuff.

Nice Bot, hope to see it in action @ Worlds

good luck !

Very nice. One question though, why did you decide to use two motors on a winch instead of putting them on the lift and hanging through your lift only? Was the bot too heavy? Looks great though, see you at Worlds!

Thanks, and hope to see you guys too! (:

When we first started it could, but unlike most designs that tend to be “back heavy” and flip backwards because the centroid was at the rear of the bot, we put the pneumatic cylinders at the front of the bot. This moved the centroid from the back, to right in the middle of the bot. We never flip but have a wheely bar as a precaution. Anyways moving the cylinders to the front puts more weight on the front of the bot, making it more difficult to lift because of the leverage at the end of the chassis. (lol kind of hard to explain…) So the winch helps it lift.

The second reason we did this is because if we are in a highly defensive match and for whatever reason the arm stalls we will still be able to hang without the arm motors just using the winch.

Lastly other bots have to lift all the way up to a certain height and if they don’t activate a catch to hold it up the bot will fall. Using a winch allows us to keep pulling up on the bar until the field control literally cuts the power from the bot at the end of the match. This can be the difference between a high hang and a low hang, or even hanging or not hanging.

And thanks, hope to meet you all too! (:
