7996B “scorpion” reveal
4 motor mecanum drive
1 motor double sided four bar lift
2 motor side lifts (1 right,1 left)
1 absolutely pointless motor (for preloads only)
preload motor will be replaced for an intake after this next competition
2 pneumatic claws (one folds out to stay in the height limit)
4 MOGOs at a time
35" corner to corner fully extended
can lift onto the platform with 2-3" to spare
Just wondering, how effective is a robot like this in competition? I personally am a 2 mogo ring bot like a lot of teams, but we dont have a lot of successful 3-4 mogo park bots over here as far as I have seen (SoCal). They do pretty well in qualification matches, but not as well in elimination matches. Great robot overall and good luck in the rest of the season.
We are very effective when paired up with a robot that goes for more rings
We just got the pneumatics, so I don’t know how much better it will be In a competition. We do have one this Saturday, so I will hopefully have some videos to share of it in action
The claw is just a triangle with each of the corners being able to rotate, and one of the sides being able to expand with the pneumatic cylinder, when the claw unfolds completely, the screw and c-channel lock together so that it can’t bend back again.
(We took apart the robot recently to make a more ring centered robot so I can’t provide a video )
Because they can pick up mobile goals from both the front/back and the sides of their robot, having a holonomic drivetrain allows them to easily intake mobile goals from any side of their robot. Without it, they would have a hard time intaking mogos via their side intakes.
We say that It is so that we can grab things from the side, but secretly it is because we just got the mecanum wheels, and I wanted to use them for programming and because they look cool.
That is the third competition we have been to where that happened (the other two were caused two years ago by TT tray bots). It sure caught everyone off guard.
