Dear VEX Forum,
It’s that time of year. Worlds Qualifying Events and Regional Championship Events are starting to occur and conclude. Seasons are starting to come to an end for some teams, and sometimes this can lead to unfortunate emotions and general sadness. We’re humans, we’re all allowed to get emotional sometimes. We’re allowed to vent, and we’re allowed to grieve. I love playing with robots, too. I enjoy competing and watching you all compete each year. I, too, get a bit sad at the end of every robotics season. It’s natural!
However, I feel its a bit necessary to clarify a few things about our forums, here. Around this time every year, there is an uptick in accusational threads for referees, judges, EPs, another team, or what have you “ruining my season” or “targeting me”. It happens every year, and this one is no different.
What is also no different to other years, is that creating a thread here accusing a volunteer of being at fault for why a season has come to an end, why an award was not won, or why a team lost an event will not change the outcome. This is not to discount anyone’s experiences, but simply to state that this is NOT the place for these kinds of posts, accusations, or claims. The RECF has a proper procedure for reporting situations of these kinds of magnitude if and when they do occur. Team Engagement Managers are there to help you. To directly quote the RECF, “Your TEM is your best friend as you experience robotics.” Use them! Reach out! Report the issue. Talk to them. It’s what they are there for. They will help direct you through the proper procedure to follow when this occurs. And I promise you their advice will NOT be to post about your experiences here.
I encourage you all to please think before you create a thread or a post that may fall into this category. It is important to remember that we (and by that I mean EVERYONE in VEX) are bound to “Treat Everyone with Respect” . This goes both ways!
If you’re still competing, good luck with the rest of your season! If you’ll be at worlds, I’ll see you there! If not, we’ll see you again. I’m sure of it
Thanks for reading!
