Adding Students to teams on robotevents.com

I noticed on Robot Events today that you could actually add the students to the teams with their email. What is the function of this?

Is the RECF trying to keep track of the kids on teams or will student be able to log in and register for tournaments?

I usually already did use student emails as one of the official emails, so this doesn’t really do anything for me.
