Anodized Aluminum Structure

This is a slightly stupid and meaningless question but are you allowed to anodize your aluminum to color it? I know you are allowed to paint it, but is a permanent color change like anodization allowed? If it is allowed, would any problems come up with doing this?

I think it’s allowed because people have done it

Since 2.2, this is not allowed in mainland China.
" Added a note to stating that anodizing / color changing of parts is no longer allowed in mainland China"

So it depends where the team is located. I suspect this will be extended to other parts of the globe next season.

Original poster is from Fort Collins, Colorado, United States (I think)
btw the first link in my post (Q&A page) mentions the China ban
and thanks for linking the game manual, I forgor lol

Second time you say “I think” - the purpose of my response is to clarify the rule and constraints as VEX forum is has teams around the globe reading it.

I will elaborate about direction where anodized or painted aluminum is going, recent VEX structure and pneumatic tubing is clearly stamped or printed with VEX so future tournament inspectors have an easier time identifying source of material.

Thanks for pointing out where the team might be located!
