I doubt they will release the “steel inserted” clutches due to the fact that they are used to be a mechanical “break” to stop the motors from stripping on the inside.
Personally, I don’t like to use clutches in competitions due to the likelihood of them stripping out, but if the VEX system is used in a classroom or around people who have never played with VEX before, it’s a good idea to use them.
That was my first thought when I read this post, but I think he may be asking for clutches with steel axle hole inserts. He may be striping out the axle holes, not the friction mechanism.
my thoughts exactly, when im running out of metal (not enough to have a collar in between two pieces of metal to stop the axle falling out of the clutch&motor) i attach my axle in a slightly different way (Motor->Clutch->Collar->Axle->Metal, use longer screws and washers) which has stripped the surroundings of about three clutches now
