Answered: Allowable Commercial Nuts According to R7c

Hi Karthik,

I’ve run into a few different situations where it would be useful to use nuts that are different from VEX nuts. In particular, it would be very useful to be able to use thin locking nuts (jam nuts) on certain tightly spaced parts. I assume this would be legal because R7c states that “any commercially available nut” that fits the specified sizes is legal.

However, I’m not sure about nuts that are different in shape or function from official VEX nuts.

Do barrel nuts/binding post nuts like these fit that definition?

Thanks!

Yes, this would be legal.

No, binding posts are not legal.

Thanks for the clarification!

You’re welcome!
