Answered: Allowed Skills Timing Methods

If for logistical reasons it would be impractical to run skills with the official tournament manager software (e.g skills is being run on a field in the pits and there is no way to wire the field into the main competition control), would the following alternate timing methods be acceptable:

Using a competition switch and a handheld timer and manually enabling/disabling the robot.

Using a custom handheld competition switch with a microcontroller so that it will enable the robot for 60 seconds when a button is pressed and then automatically disable it when time runs out. The timer would be accurate at least to within +/- 0.1 seconds over the 60 second period.

Yes, this is acceptable.
