Answered: Can we use wire that is identical to extension cable?

Citing this rule from the Clean Sweep manual:

<R6a> Products identical to those listed on www.vexrobotics.com are also considered “official VEX products”.

We were thinking of buying some of the 36in extension cables just to use the wire - we’d need to cut off the connectors. That’s such a waste of money though, so the idea was rejected. However, can we buy the same type of wire from someplace like Radio Shack and use it, as long as it’s the same style flat three conductor, same gauge, cut into 36 inch sections, etc.? If so, what gauge is the wire?

Thanks!

Gary

No, this would not be legal. Quoting <R15a>

So it would not be legal for a team to cut the ends of the extension cables to just use the wires. Thus, it also would not be legal for to just by the identical wires and use them, as there is no legal way of using wires in this state from modifying VEX parts.

Doh! Of course that makes sense. Sorry for the confusion, and thanks for the reply.
