Answered: Clarification of <R4>

<R4> states that a robot must ‘be smaller than 18” x 18” x 18"’. If a robot were to have a flip out tray that would be outside 18"^3, but it could fold into the robot, making it smaller than the size limit, would it be legal to have the field perimeter hold the tray within the size limit i.e. on it’s own, the robot would fail the size inspection, but pressed up against the wall, the robot would be smaller than 18"^3.

As such a robot would likely fail inspection, if this is legal, what should I tell inspectors?

I’ll edit this to clarify if necessary. I can’t seem to articulate what I’m thinking.

No, this is not legal.
