Answered: Clarification on Crossing the Fence and Pinning

If a bot crosses the Fence (or sticks some part of itself through the Fence), is it legal to touch and/or push Scoring Objects and/or opposing robots that are in your own Zones?

If it is legal to touch an opposing robot, would it be legal to pin a robot against the field perimeter, provided it has not Entangled said robot? I noticed there was no definition for pinning this year, but I thought I should check.

Let’s take a look updated version of <SG6> that was posted on June 15th. I’ve bolded some text for emphasis.

<SG6> Robots may not make contact with the foam tiles in their own Zones. (i.e. Robots may not contact the Zones across the fence from their Alliance Station) Minor violations of this rule that do not affect the match will result in a warning. Egregious (match affecting) offenses will result in a Disqualification. Teams that receive multiple warnings may also receive a Disqualification at the head referee’s discretion.

a. Contact between Robots in opposing Zones is expected due to the interactive nature of VRC Starstruck. However, intentionally restricting the movement of an opposing Robot by contacting them on their side of the Fence is illegal.

Thus, you are allowed to contact opposing Robots, but if you reach over the Fence and restrict the movement of an opponent, you will be in violation of <SG6a>.
