<R21> During the Autonomous Period human operators will not be allowed to use their hand-held controllers. As such, teams are responsible for programming their robot with custom software if they want to perform in Autonomous mode.

Would it be alright to click a button on the controller in order to activate the autonomous program, provided that we do not use the controller at any other point in the autonomous period?

(E.g. EasyC’s competition template requires that the user click a button on the controller after initializing the robot in order for the autonomous program to start.)

No, this is not legal. Once the Autonomous Period begins, you may not touch any of the buttons on your VEXnet Joystick. If you construct your program properly, you robot will move automatically when Autonomous mode begins.
