Answered: Clarification on SG14

My question is about the 36" horizontal dimension. The rules state that the robot may not exceed this length at any point during a match. So if it were possible for our robot to exceed this horizontal constraint, but in a match it is illogical and would never occur, would this still be considered illegal?
Ive added some images of our robot to further clarify:

When our mobile goal intake is extended we are still within the 36" as seen in “image 2”
Also when our arm is at its maximum horizontal length we are still within 36" as seen in “image 1”

However, if we were to extend both the arm and the mobile goal intake to max horizontal length, we would be outside 36". This however would never happen “in a match”, as the rules state. It logically does not make any sense for us to be extended in this manner(Why would we be trying to stack with our arm onto nothing with the mobile goal extended?)

So if it’s physically possible to be outside of the 36" restriction, but would not happen within a match, is this considered illegal?

Thanks for taking your time to answer!

Provided that you do not extend both mechanisms at once, this would be legal. Please see this relevant Q&A and the Q&A Summary for more details.
