Answered: Clarification on SG5

Is it legal for an ultrasonic sensor mounted to a robot to receive input from outside the field. For example: the robot is parked near one of the 20" goals and the coach waves his/her hand (assuming the hand does not break the plane of the field) and the robot then performs any number of actions i.e. out-taking, backing up etc…


My question arises out of the fact that “contact” is not defined in the VEX Gateway Manual and throughout the manual contact seems to imply physical touching.

This is not legal.
