In the college competition, are the two robots allowed to communicate with each other wirelessly using custom electronics? The wireless transcievers would be connected to the Cortex bricks via UART ports.
Is this allowed if the robots only send data to each other and no other device?
Is this allowed if the robots send data to each other and send “debug” telemetry to a remote computer during matches? This is provided that the computer is not sending any data or instructions to the robots.
Does the use of encryption affect the legality of this in any way (we are considering some modules that have some support for encryption out-of-the-box).
The aforementioned assume radio communication at microwave frequencies.
Would the robots be allowed to communicate with each other using LEDs (visible, IR, etc) or similar devices?
