Answered: College teams reading motor current

For college teams, the rules say that there are no restrictions on additional sensors and electronics with a few exceptions, one of them being “Electronics CANNOT directly interface with the VEX Motors.” Are we allowed have a current sensor that is placed in series in between the wire coming into a VEX Motor and the Cortex? We are not cutting into any wires or hacking into any parts of the VEX Motors nor the Cortex. Is this considered “directly” or “indirectly” interfacing with the VEX Motors?

This would be legal, provided the device is used for measurement only.
