Answered: controller and microcontroller problem

Hi, my VEX Cortex microcontroller and and joystick both have all of their LEDs lit up red. I tried updating the mastercode with the 4.0.2.0 version of EasyC after it happened, but the problem was not resolved. rebooting the joystick and the cortex resulted in the same problem.

  1. What does it mean?
  2. How does one fix this?
  3. Why is there less than squat on troubleshooting these devices?

Thanks!

Hello Randalcr,

I understand that you feel frustrated and I apologize about that.
Here are the answers to your three questions:

  1. All red LED’s can indicate more than one issue, but the first indication of this LED pattern is really low battery voltage.

  2. The first thing you can do to fix this issue, will be trying a fully charged battery. If this fails then we know we have a different problem.

3.We have many resources available online, such as the VEX Wiki, the Cortex/Joystick User Guide & even a VEXnet LED pattern chart. This resources are extremely helpful for users trying to troubleshoot their own equipment.

Thank you so much, Eli!! I must admit that I am fairly new to VEX, and after having troubleshooting info and status information readily available for Labview and electronics for FIRST. I was probably looking for answers in the wrong spots.

Thank you again!

Not a problem.
Thanks.
