In our last match, there were many low to the ground robots driving into our 5 point zone trying to block us from scoring mobile goals. To my understanding of the rules, they were doing nothing illegal, so I came up with a strategy to use treads to climb over these robots, at least the low to the ground ones. Would this strategy be legal?
EDIT: this strategy was not used in the competition, our robot doesn’t have treads. (Yet)
There are no rules explicitly prohibiting this. However, <G12> would very likely come into play, quoted below for reference:
A Robot which intentionally drives over an opponent, resulting in the opponent being damaged or entangled, would be considered a violation of <G12>. If this happens repeatedly, it could be considered a violation of <R3> and require re-inspection before being allowed to play further.
In general, to protect themselves from DQs or damage (intentional or otherwise), we would recommend that teams do not drive on top of other robots.
