Answered: Elimination Ties and Replays

Based on the two rules below, I have two questions:

  1. If the first match in an elimination series is tied, what teams are allowed to play in the replay of the tied match? Also, if an alliance decides to play the team they sat out in the original, tied, match in the replay of the tied match, in the match following the replay of that tied match, who is allowed to play for that alliance?
  2. Do these situations differ if the first match was replayed due to causes other than a tie, such as a field fault?

Any of the three teams on the alliance may play in the second match. This is because we know there’s the certainty of a third match.

Any of the three teams may play in the subsequent matches in the scenario you have described; all three robots have played in at least one match, meaning that all requirements have been met.
